Kickstart Something Amazing
If you’re new around here, you probably don’t know that Remote Ramblers, formerly Amazig Leathers, was brought to life on Kickstarter. Back in 2013, I was a broke graduate student with no real business experience, but a strong desire to create a social enterprise that would bridge the gap between consumers and producers. There was no chance in hell that a traditional bank or investment entity would have invested in me and Amazig, but that didn’t stop hundreds of friends and global strangers from doing exactly that. 7 years later, Amazig Leathers is now Remote Ramblers, but the work is exactly the same. I would not have been able to positively impact artisan families and their communities without Kickstarter, which makes me truly grateful for its existence and committed to helping other great ideas come to life.
With that in mind, I want to introduce you to our newest blog segment in which I will share all of my favorite, current Kickstarter campaigns from a variety of different industries and producers. Most of the campaigns I choose will specifically be focused on eco-friendly goods, travel gear, accessories, and other things that I think will make the world a better place.

UVMask: Real-Time UV-C Filtration & Purification Face Mask
The anti-pollution, air purification face mask that filters dust, organisms, and allergens (like pollen & leaf mulch) as you breathe.
Why I’m obsessed: I must admit, this definitely isn’t the cheapest item I have invested in on Kickstarter, but given the way the world is right now (even outside of COVID), it may prove to be the most useful long term investment.
This mask does EVERYTHING. It is retrofit with an N95 filter and a UV-C filtration light which kills up to 99.99% of all pollutants, and if you buy it on Kickstarter you will save yourself 65% of the retail price. WOW. This may be why they have already raised $1,488,587 from 8,022 backers, these figures are absolutely mind boggling given that they were only trying to raise 20,000 and still have 28 days to go on their campaign.

Why I’m obsessed: Finally, nice active wear that isn’t full of plastics and can be dressed up or down. I chose the Tank Top and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. When I travel, I travel cheaply, which means I am not spending extra unnecessary money paying for luggage, which is why pieces like this are so essential. A cute shirt that is environmentally friendly, has cooling technology, dries super quickly, and won’t get smelly after days of wear - I’m all in.
Keep in mind when you are looking at their campaign that the pledge prices are listed in HK (Hong Kong Dollars), so make sure to convert it to whatever currency you will be making your pledge in. So for example, the tank top I got was $219 HK, so only $28 USD!
